Urology and Andrology

A urologist treats diseases of the urinary tract in both men and women, while andrology focuses on the male reproductive system, treating conditions related to the prostate, penis, testicles, and urethra. Andrology, therefore, is a highly specialized branch of urology that deals specifically with the male reproductive system. A urologist is a surgeon specializing in the urinary and genital systems, while an andrologist is a urologist with specialized training in treating male sexual and reproductive disorders; thus, they address fertility issues, sexual dysfunction, and specific conditions of the male reproductive system. The andrologist treats male patients of all ages, tailoring care to the specific needs of each life stage, including surgical interventions when necessary. They diagnose specific conditions such as sexual dysfunction, fertility issues, and genital malformations, and also treat cancers of the male genital organs.
