Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a healthcare profession based on an integrated and complementary approach to traditional medicine. Founded more than a century ago by Dr. Andrew Taylor Still, Osteopathy is the study of all those structural, visceral, neurovegetative, and craniosacral dysfunctions which, although functional in origin, create what is defined as an "osteopathic dysfunction". That is to say, a restriction of mobility in different areas of the body that has significant repercussions on the individual's entire musculoskeletal system. This involvement will affect the patient's posture, altering their alignment and giving rise to myofascial tension. Through specific techniques, the osteopath stimulates the restoration of physiological mobility in the various systems (circulatory, respiratory, fascial, nervous, musculoskeletal) which, through a synergistic and coordinated activity, regulate the normal functioning of the body. • Musculoskeletal system: hyperkyphosis, hyperlordosis, low back pain, neck pain, upper/mid back pain, coccyx pain, whiplash, scapulohumeral periarthritis, hip problems, knee pain, pubalgia, fasciitis, tendinitis… • Neurological system: dizziness, headaches, herniated disc, facial neuralgia, cervico-brachial neuralgia, crural neuralgia, sciatica; • Neurovegetative system: chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, feeling of tightness/oppression, sleep disturbances, irritability, depressive states, anxiety states, gastroesophageal reflux, constipation, functional disorders of the digestive tract, irritable bowel syndrome, hiatal hernia, heartburn, post-operative cardiocirculatory issues, hemorrhoids, dysmenorrhea; • Stomatognathic system: TMJ disorders, malocclusions
